HIAB trucks range from compact rigids to full artics. Choosing the right vehicle size means we can reach the vast majority of restricted-access sites while still delivering the lift capacity you need.
One of the most common concerns when booking HIAB transport is site access. Will the truck actually be able to get in? The answer, in most cases, is yes — provided you choose the right vehicle configuration and brief your operator accurately in advance.
Our fleet ranges from 7.5-tonne rigids with compact HIAB cranes (ideal for urban areas and residential streets) through to full 44-tonne artic combinations for heavy industrial work. The key is matching the smallest vehicle that meets your lift requirement to the access constraints at your site.
Standard HIAB trucks with the crane in travel position typically stand 3.8–4.2 metres high. If your route includes a bridge under 4.0 metres, we plan an alternative route in advance. Our drivers check their route before departure and will contact you if an access problem is identified.
Many rural roads and residential streets carry 7.5-tonne weight limits. Where a heavier vehicle is necessary for the lift, we work with you to identify a suitable offload point nearby — placing the load as close to its final position as the crane reach allows, rather than taking the vehicle onto a restricted road.
Unmade tracks and single-track lanes are a regular part of the job for our rural deliveries — portable cabins to farm sites, glamping pods to fields, agricultural equipment deliveries. We assess track condition and width during the quote stage and advise on ground protection or alternative access if needed.
City centre and residential deliveries require good traffic management awareness. Our operators are experienced with urban HIAB work including pavement lifts, over-fence placements and back-garden hot tub installations where the only access is through a side gate. Provide accurate measurements of your access and we will tell you whether it is achievable.
